Junior Sailor Finds His Place Within The Ranks

Junior Sailor

For the Junior Sailor E2 Master-At-Arms (MA) David Bradford, this transition is more than just a change of scenery; it's a journey of growth, learning, and finding his place within the ranks of the military.

MA Bradford's affiliation with the Navy began with a sense of duty and a desire to serve his country. Stationed at JEB Little Creek-Fort Story, he found himself immersed in a region vastly different from his Texas roots. Yet, Virginia Beach’s climate and beaches appealed to him.

"I’m from Texas, there are no beaches," he remarks. "It’s also not as hot as Texas here in Virginia Beach," he adds with a hint of relief in his voice.

Reflecting on his hometown of Houston, MA Bradford recalls the vibrant city life and the allure of downtown streets teeming with activity. "What I miss most about my town is the city life! Downtown Houston was my favorite area to hang out. Everything is bigger in Texas!" he exclaims, a touch of nostalgia evident in his words.

Outside of his duties, MA Bradford engages in on-base activities offered by the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Liberty program, and immerses himself in a variety of experiences from volunteer opportunities to adrenaline-pumping paintball matches. Recounting his favorite memories, MA Bradford highlighted all the fun he had at the Superbowl Bash, an event that brought fellow sailors together! Expressing his desire for additional MWR activities, MA Bradford eagerly suggests skydiving trips and excursions to New York and Richmond.

Guided by valuable lessons from mentors and loved ones, MA Bradford emphasizes the importance of cherishing time spent with others and seeking guidance from seasoned mentors. At the heart stands his father, a beacon of inspiration who instilled in him the values of perseverance and the pursuit of dreams.

With unwavering ambition and resolve, the journey continues for MA Bradford - a testament to his resilience to sail towards the horizon of possibility.
