Oceana - Skeet, Trap & Archery Range
NAS Oceana Skeet and Trap range provides three skeet fields, two of which have trap overlay, one wobble trap field and a five stand range. Our knowledgeable staff provides safe reliable instruction to meet the skill levels of the novice to advanced shooter.We also offer a 10 stand flat archery range alongside our elevated 3D archery range.
Skeet Regulations:
- The only ammo allowed is 7.5, 8 or 9 shot with a shell length of 2 ¾”, No Buckshot.
- Shot guns only. No tactical modifications, No pistol grips, minimum barrel length of 18”, No rifles or pistols.
- Reservations are recommended. We take reservation up to 48 hours in advance either by phone or online. Reservations are for 1-hour time slots. The last time slot begins at 3:15 p.m. All shooting must be finished by 4:30 p.m., no exceptions.
- We do sell 12 and 20-gauge ammo and rent shotguns for those that do not have their own, limited numbers at this time.
- Each shooter need to bring a buddy with them to pull the clays. We do not have clay delays.
- Each shooter must bring their own eye and ear protection.
- Each shooter must bring in their guns and ammo to the office to be checked before they shoot.
- Shooting age is 12 years old and up.
- Every person that will be on the field will need to come into the office each time they visit to sign our general liability sheet, even non shooters.
- All dogs must be on an 8 ft or shorter leash and under full control at all times.
- All shooters must stop shooting if “cease fire” is announced.
- Shooting will be stopped anytime there is lighting and thunder.
Range Rules:
- No more than two shells in the gun – one in the chamber and one in the magazine.
- Only one gun can be used on the range at a time, this is not a firing line.
- Load and fire on the stations marked with yellow paint.
- DO NOT walk with a loaded firearm.
- Keep the chamber on your gun open and empty when moving around.
- Eye and ear protection is required while on the field.
- DO NOT pass the field houses as they are the firing line
- Don’t forget to grab a bucket from the office to put your spent shells and cardboard in and bring back to the office to be thrown out.
Archery Regulations/ Rules:
- Archers need to use field tips on their arrows.
- Cross bow users can ask for special targets to shoot at in the office.
- Broad heads are not allowed on our archery fields.
- We have kid and adult bows and arrows for rent in the office.
- Every person that will be on the field will need to come into the office each time they visit to sign our general liability sheet, even non archers.
- Archery will need to cease by 4:45 p.m. with last payments taken no later than 4 p.m.
