NRMA Family Child Care Program
When you need professional care with the comfort of home, our Family Child Care Program (FCC) are here to help. FCC Providers are self-employed individuals operating a child care business in their own home and often have previous early childhood education experience. They undergo regular inspections and receive ongoing programming support and extensive training – exactly like our Child Development Centers. They’re here to promote overall social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth – all while building school readiness skills.
Peace of Mind:
- FCC childcare providers are supports by trusted military organizations, providing parents with peace of mind. Trustworthy organizations ensure caregivers meet high standards for performance and integrity.
Safety and Trust:
- Providers undergo rigorous background checks and training, ensuring a high standard of safety and reliability.
- Parents can feel confident that their children are in good hands with well-vetted, trustworthy caregivers.
- Providers receive unannounced visits from FCC monitors monthly, at minimum. All providers receive training on similar topics as CDC staff receive.
- Providers are required to have an open-door policy, allowing parents to visit at any time during daycare hours. Parents are strongly encouraged by FCC staff to interview multiple providers before deciding which is the best fit for their family and their individual needs.
Personalized Care, Dependability and Backup:
- FCC home-based services offer a more personalized and intimate environment.
- In case of non-availability, FCC assigned providers work in tandem with the FCC program to secure back-up care for families when needed. There are back-up providers and substitute providers that are certified to assist as needed.
Comfortable, Familiar Environment:
- Children are cared for in a home setting, which can be more comfortable and familiar compared to a daycare center. This can reduce stress for younger children, especially infants or toddlers.
- At FCC, home care children will have only one caregiver. This prevents children and parents from having to adjust to multiple caregivers and go through transitions during shift changes. Providers have the flexibility to be open during late night/early morning hours or overnight for families working non-traditional hours.
- Providers and FCC children/parents can develop very close, strong and sometimes lifelong relationships, essentially becoming extended members of each other's families.
Training and Specialized Services:
- All providers receive training on similar topics as CDC staff receive.
- FCC providers receive training on how to develop the child's skills needed for kindergarten readiness. Providers also receive training on how to articulate examples of this training to families.
- Providers are trained not just in childcare but often in areas like first aid, child development and behavioral management. This means that children benefit from high-quality care in a nurturing well-managed environment.
